Canadian Delights at Metro supermarkets

The Embassy of Canada, together with the Metro chain of supermarkets and department stores, is holding a supermarket promotion at Metro Market! Market! Taguig from March 16 to 31, 2012.

“Canadian Delights” puts the spotlight on Canadian food products. A dedicated area of the supermarket will exhibit a complete range of Canadian products, with more items throughout the store prominently labeled for easy recognition. Metro Market! Market! shoppers will get the chance to win prizes upon purchase of Canadian products worth at least P500.

“Given the diversity and quality of Canadian food products, we are keen to increase our profile and satisfy the demands and discerning tastes of the Philippine market,” said Canadian ambassador to the Philippines Christopher Thornley.

A series of weekend cooking demonstrations will also be held at the Metro Market! Market! branch by the Magsaysay Institute of Hospitality & Culinary Arts (MIHCA), with the special participation of the Canadian Tourism & Hospitality Institute (CTHI).

The uniquely-themed cooking demonstrations in partnership with top local magazines will highlight Canadian food products used in appetizing recipes, catering not just to culinary professionals but also food enthusiasts and enterprising individuals.

The supermarket promotion is the fifth installment in “The Maple Series”, a string of promotional events on Canadian agriculture and agri-food products organized by the Embassy of Canada.

In recent months, the Embassy has engaged in a variety of promotional activities including a Canadian-themed episode on the Lifestyle Network’s cooking show “Curiosity Got the Chef”, “Canada HEATs it up!” food fest at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, “Culinary Canada Seafood Festival” at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, and “Chuck’s Day Off in Manila” cooking demonstration and tasting reception with guest celebrity chef from Canada, Chuck Hughes.
