Getting Buffalo at Wingman

Chicken wings are my least favorite part of any chicken meal but I am beginning to like it when I tried the Buffalo wings at Wingman in Makati. The Monday Supper Club invited me to join the An-All-You-Can-Eat-Buffalo-Wings-Festival.

Like I said, chicken wings is my least favorite part of the chicken and so does everyone else except if you are old school. The bony proportions were scrapped and often shipped to soup factories. Where did the name Buffalo came from? Buffalo wings were said to have been invented by husband and wife Frank and Teressa Belissimo for their family-owned restaurant at Buffalo, New York in 1964.

Every year since 2002, there are Buffalo Wing Festival held in the United States with average festival goers of 407,000, consuming 2.4M wings which weighs about 137 tons. They also do this for charity and collected about $125,000. In a similar event, a Philadelphia radio station hosts the Wing Bowl that draws 20,000. Joey Chestnut holds the record in consuming 241 wings in 28 minutes during the 2008 Wing Bowl Championship.

Back here at Wingman, I met Mike Choo, aka Chewy. He oriented me about what will happen. It will be like Buffalo Wing Festival on a smaller crowd. What's great about the atmosphere of the place is that most people know each other here. As we began, Jhong Medina of The Lunchbreak Blogger and I were competing who will finish a plate of a dozen medium-spicy Buffalo wings first.

As  I wore the disposable transparent plastic gloves, Chewy was teaching me how to eat the buffalo wings properly using only your hands. It should be snapped in half so they can look like smaller drumsticks to make it more easier to eat than in its akimbo shape.
Darryl consumed the most Buffalo wings:37

After one hour, Darryl was the first to consume 37 wings while among the ladies present; Mae was able to finish 17 wings. I was able to finish my dozen wings in 18mins. and 48secs. minutes and Jhong was able to finish his in 30 minutes. The Buffalo wings is unlike any chicken I've tasted. The saucy dressing was just the way I like for chicken wings even though it was medium spicy  that it made me sweat but it is just how I love it. For my taste buds, it is more appetizing when it's spicy.
Mia finished 17 Buffalo wings

A dozen wings is only cost 300 and it's a hearty meal even without rice but there are carrot sticks for side dish. You can also have the option of a half dozen Buffalo wings for only 180. Try it with the blue cheese. It is best served with beer or iced tea. Wingman is located at The Collective 7274 Malugay st. Makati. You can contact Wingman at 903-2791.Thanks to Enjoy Philippines for inviting the W.H.A.T. Blogger and Mike Choo for making us feel welcome.
